Police: Woman calls 911 after shooting boyfriend twice
DOWAGIAC, Mich. – Dowagiac Police were called to a house on Pokagon Street on Wednesday after a woman told 911 she had shot her boyfriend in the legs.
Police were called to the 300 block of Pokagon Street around 10:45 a.m.
When officers arrived they located the 31-year-old female suspect and the 49-year-old male subject that had been shot.
According to police, the Dowagiac man and his girlfriend got into an argument which resulted in her getting a handgun and shooting him twice in the lower legs.
After being interviewed by officials, the suspect told police she shot her boyfriend during a domestic argument.
The subject was transported to South Bend Memorial hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Dowagiac woman was arrested and booked at the Cass County Jail on charges of assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder.
Police have withheld the suspects name pending her arraignment.
Dowagiac Police were assisted by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Paragon Tribal Police Department and the Dowagiac Fire Department during this incident.
