Popular South Bend restaurant reopens

A favorite South Bend restaurant has reopened its doors after several months of being closed. Monday morning Top Notch Restaurant will hold a grand opening from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The restaurant closed back in February at their old location on Western Avenue after a buyout from Martin's Supermarket. Just months later the business is back open at a new location on Lincolnway West.

“We have a lot of regulars. A lot of people that love us. We just want to do a good job in the neighborhood. Top Notch family appreciates everybody. We take care of everybody,” said George Bourounis of Top Notch Restaurant.

This past Wednesday Top Notch reopened for what they called a soft opening to slowly let guests back in, in an effort to prevent long lines and wait times.

“We opened up slowly just to leak everybody in so no body got upset if they came in and we had a long line,” Bourounis added.

This reopening is something that regular guests and employees have been excited about.

“I’m very glad this is open. My husband has been waiting to take me here when it opened so this is the first time we’ve been in,” said
Mary Barbara who was a frequent customer at the former location.

The new location has about 30-40 more seats for guests as well as a waiting area that is about four times bigger than the old location.

Top Notch is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
