ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- St. Joseph County Surveyor Derek Dieter reports a burglary occurred at the Portage Township office located on the St. Joe River off Monroe and Lincolnway East around 6:30 a.m. Friday.

Dieter shared photos of a shattered office window with a brick on the office floor.

He also shared two photos of the suspect wearing a red hoodie with dark pants and holding a brick.

Dieter confirmed this occurred at the new office and the stolen item was a TV, around 48 inches.

Portage Township Trustee Jason Critchlow told ABC57 News this is the seventh or eighth incident at the new offices just this year.

He says the problems go back to when they first moved in during December 2023.

Officials say they have installed bright lights that are on overnight and high-quality security cameras.
