Portion of SR 23 to be closed Tuesday through Friday
The Indiana Department of Transportation will be closing a portion of SR 23 while crews chip/fog seal and rehabilitate the road.
SR 23 will be closed between SR4 and US 20/31 Bypass between Tuesday, June 14 and Friday, June 17.
Crews will perform a chip seal and fog seal operation to preserve the road surface.
If there is rain, the project will be delayed.
Drivers traveling north on SR 23 will be detoured east on State Road 4, north on U.S. 31, west on U.S. 20 and back to SR 23. Drivers traveling south on SR 23 will be detoured east on U.S. 20, south on U.S. 31, west on SR 4 and back to SR 23.
According to INDOT, the chip seal process consists of distributing a liquid asphalt emulsion on the roadway and covering the liquid asphalt with crushed stone to provide a new wearing surface.
