SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- The Potawatomi Zoo is going under significant expansion to enhance tourism, entertainment, and conservation efforts. The new project will include a new tiger habitat and playground for children to observe the big cats. The expansion aims to attract over 400,000 visitors annually and sustain endangered species like the amur tiger and amur leopard.
The zoo has received support from the city of South Bend and local partners. Big Cat Tracks is the first expansion in the zoo's recent history. The $ 5.8 million project is part of Phase 3 of the zoo's master plan.
