ABC 57

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Potawatomi Zoo announced on Wednesday that it will be extending the Zoo Luminate event, for one week, through June 1.

“We’ve had an incredible response to this lantern festival,” says Josh Sisk, executive director of the Potawatomi Zoo. “We’ve loved seeing the pictures and comments people have shared already, and we wanted to give the public a little more time to experience this unique event.”

The night-time event cost $20 for adults and $15 for children, with babies two and under being free.

Zoo Members receive discounted admission of $18 for adults and $13 for children at the gate. A discounted ticket four-pack of two adult tickets and two child tickets is also available for $60 at the gate.

As long as the weather cooperates, the Zoo Train and Carousel will be available during the event with tickets costing $3 per person.

Concessions and the bar in The Lodge will be open. Drinks, snacks, and adult beverages will be available at the Farmhouse Café near the red barn, and the Zoo Gift Shop will be open.

The event started on March 19 and is open Wednesday through Sunday, 6-10 pm.

Normal zoo activity is currently open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with summer hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. starting June 2.
