Potawatomi Zoo plans root canal for "Sam" the river otter

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- It seems that even animals have problems with their teeth.

On Thursday, the Potawatomi Zoo announced that Sam, one of the zoo's North American river otters will undergo a root canal on Monday.

The zoo said doctors will repair two fractured canines to prevent future health problems.

The dental center is performing the procedure for free. It should take about an hour and a half.
