Pow-Wow provides folks with a hands-on experience of Native American life

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The calmer weather was also welcomed at St. Patrick's County Park for the annual Pow-Wow.

The Native Peoples of America hosted its annual weekend gathering several native tribes were on the hand to share customs, participate in ceremonies and even compete in drumming and dance contests.

Organizers say they are excited for a great turnout.

"It makes me feel tremendously well because when you got a museum it's hands off but there it's hands on with the craft booths and stuff and the wigwam village," Jonathan Ogemaw Fowler said. "They can touch it and they can fee it."

Folks also got a chance to check out an Indian wigwam village and tee-pees as well as Native American food and crafts.
