Pregnant women and the flu

A health alert is being issued for women.

The flu can be a serious illness for anyone, but it can be a deadly threat for pregnant women.

Flu season is rapidly approaching, and doctors are urging moms-to-be to get the flu vaccine.

Many worry the shot could cause harm to their unborn babies, but the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists say that is not the case.

Pregnant women should act as soon as October, when the flu season begins because it is a life saver for both mother and child.
