Preparations for the Fiesta Bowl continue to develop

Head Coach Marcus Freeman explained recently how the Notre Dame football team has been taking precautions very seriously to avoid COVID-19 transmission within the program while preparing for the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona.

Freeman says masking and limiting COVID-19 exposure to the team from the public between practices will be an important factor to make sure the team remains healthy and ready to face Oklahoma State on Saturday.

“This thing is real and it's realer than it's ever been. We have to be smart in terms of what we are doing out here in Arizona, wearing our masks when we are supposed to, and being really, really smart about the people we're around. You cannot come down here and just go out and hang out and treat this like a normal bowl trip,” said Freeman.

Oklahoma State Head Coach Mike Gundy seemed to have a more relaxed approach as the Cowboys attended the Phoenix Suns NBA game on Monday.

“Are some players going to get the virus? They probably are. We have had just a few that have gotten it over the last few days. As you watch and just try to gauge percentages, I would guess there's going to be a few more who will get it. But, we are 100 percent fully committed to playing this game. We want nothing more than to be as healthy as possible and to play this game, but we also want to be able to enjoy Scottsdale and we want to be able to enjoy the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl,” said Gundy.
