Preparations underway for Hunter Ice Festival in Niles

Preparations are underway for the 12th annual Hunter Ice Festival in downtown Niles.

On Monday, large blocks of ice were delivered to the downtown area.

Beginning Tuesday they will be carved into works of art.

Some of the ice carvers that are scheduled to be in town this week are some of the best in the world.

The festival kicks off January 22 and runs through the 24th.

"Almost everything with the festival is free, so you can bring your family and have a good time, and you don't have to spend a lot of money," said Lucy McCauslin, the Promotions Committee Chair for the Niles Main Street program.
