Prevention training targets communication skills on concerns about suicide

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.- Responding to concerns about suicide is the primary focus for participants receiving safeTALK Suicide Prevention Training.

Presented by St. Joseph County CARES, the training event is for anyone 15 years of age and older.

The suicide prevention training is free and will take place Friday, April 28 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the St. Joseph County Public Library's (SJCPL) Community Learning Center.

Training participants are asked to use the entrance at the corner of Michigan and Wayne streets, as the main library entrance will be closed until 9 a.m.

The SJCPL Community Learning Center is located at 305 South Michigan St. in South Bend.

The free training event is sponsored by the Indiana Department of Mental Health and Addiction and Beacon Health System.

Partnering organizations include the Alcohol and Addictions Resource Center, the LGBTQ Center, Seasons Counseling Center of Michiana, Oaklawn, St. Mary's College, the St. Joseph County Health Department, The Suicide Prevention Center of United Health Services, and the SJCPL.
