ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A judge has found there was probable cause to arrest former Jimtown teacher on a charge of battery resulting in bodily for allegedly striking a student, according to court records.

Michael Hosinski is accused of striking a student in the hallway of Jimtown High School on February 25.

The victim told investigators Hosinski asked him to leave the classroom. After he left the room, Hosinski followed him down the hallway and grabbed his bookbag.

The teacher allegedly hit him with an open hand across his face, which caused his face to hit the brick wall, report said.

The victim said he suffered throbbing pain to his head along with a bloody nose and bloody lip, reports said.

Investigators viewed surveillance footage of the incident, which was released to the media and it showed Hosinski striking the student, causing him to hit the wall, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office will make a determination whether formal charges are filed.
