Quick response from SBFD saves several apartments

Several units in a South Bend apartment complex were saved from flames on Saturday, all because of a quick response by the South Bend Fire Department.

SBFD responded to a call at the Irish Hills Apartments complex around noon Saturday for reports of a fire in one of the units.

Firefighters worked quickly to stop the fire before it spread to the attic of the unit.

Officials say the third floor apartment closest to where the fire took place is uninhabitable for the time being.

There were no injuries reported from this fire.
