Quiet Tuesday; snow and ice tonight mean a messy Wednesday commute
Tuesday during the day is quiet, but tonight and Wednesday morning, things could get messy again. Good news first: today stays dry early with a mix of clouds and a little sun peeking through. Temperatures stay cool with a high in the low 30s this afternoon.
Now the not so good news: tonight, precipitation is back. This evening we could pick up 1-2 inches of snow. Snow begins falling after 6 p.m., and will move from west to east. You may want to reschedule any evening errands to avoid driving in the falling snow.
Gradually overnight, snow turns to a wintry mix or freezing rain. Your Wednesday morning commute could be icy.
Luckily, temperatures are warmer by Wednesday afternoon, so any accumulating snow and ice should melt by the afternoon.
Thursday is quiet again for New Years Eve, but overnight into the first morning of 2021, there is another round of freezing rain, which could be a little more troublesome than Wednesday's ice given cooler Friday morning temperatures. Given this, I have bumped Friday morning to level two (orange) on threat tracker. Rain lasts throughout the day Friday with temperatures in the 40s.
There is a chance for a few showers Saturday, but most of the weekend is dry with temperatures in the mid 30s.
Today: Partly to mostly cloudy. Evening snow showers. High 34.
Tonight: Snow showers early, turning to freezing rain late. Low 30.
Wednesday: Early AM freezing rain. Rainy through the day. Windy. High 44.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy. Overnight wintry precipitation. High 35.
