Railroad crossing closures update in Berrien County

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - The Berrien County Road Department announced Hawthorne Road and Brown School Road have re-opened to traffic at the CSX railroad crossings, while other closures will start soon.

County officials say depending on work progression, Linco Road, Livingston Road, and Lemon Creek Road CSX railroad crossings could close starting Tuesday night.

Once crossings have been closed, they will be closed for multiple days until approaches have been replaced and reopened to traffic.

Traffic will not be permitted once the closure begins, and closure duration is subject to CSX and weather permitting.

Motorists are asked to seek alternative routes or use the established detour route until work is completed.

The public is also reminded not to drive around road closure barricades.

Barricades will be removed when roadways and crossings are safe for public use.
