Rebuilding Together hosts press conference at residential repair site
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Mayor James Mueller and the program’s officials will meet at the home this Thursday at 1:30 p.m. to discuss future repairs in west side neighborhoods.
The home address of 221 N Chicago St will be the location of one of many homes in the neighborhood receiving renovations through the program.
Rebuilding Together plans to make repairs in excess of $200,000 that include roof, water heater, and furnace replacements, as well as maintenance like painting and landscaping for elderly homeowners.
“Our volunteers from both the local trades and other organizations in the community make a life changing impact for homeowners,” said Andre Waddell, President of Rebuilding Together St. Joseph County. “From new roofs to handrail installations, these repairs and upgrades allow seniors and others to have a better quality of life for years to come”.
RT heads an effort in April to assist elderly and disabled residents in completing these free home repairs. South Bend’s west side selection would be their first project of the year.
