Recently acquitted SB officer wants to resign

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A South Bend officer recently reinstated after being found not guilty of fondling two women tried to resigned from his job.

Jeffery Chester was placed on unpaid leave after he was charged with fondling two women while on the job. He was found not guilty last month.

Last week, the board of public safety reinstated Chester.

His resignation was not accepted because there not enough members of the safety board to accept it. A future date has not been announced.
