Release the tapes: South Bend Common Council draws line in sand

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Release the tapes! That's what the South Bend Common Council has been fighting for.

But the mayor has maintained that listening to the phone recordings would be illegal.

Now the council's attorney will meet with the mayor and explain why it wouldn't be.
