SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Community members gathered Friday afternoon to remember the victims and those impacted by the Kelly’s Pub mass shooting of 2019.
City officials announce Brandon Williams’ life and other victims of gun violence will be remembered on the anniversary of the shooting by turning the River Lights green in their memory on Wednesday.
The city of South Bend also announced an event will be held on the National Day of Remembrance in September to raise awareness about gun violence.
“That was one of my intentions. I didn’t want it to be just about my brother, because, like I said, it’s what he would’ve wanted. He would want it to be about everybody, not just him. That’s what type of brother I had, the individual that he was. He wouldn’t want it to be about nobody else,” said Tiara Williams, sister of Brandon Williams.
Police have yet to arrest or charge any suspects in the 2019 shooting that took Williams’ life and injured 11 others.
