Report: Vanderbilt eyes Notre Dame’s Clark Lea for next football coach

Vanderbilt University is eyeing Notre Dame defensive coordinator Clark Lea to become the Commodores’ next football coach, according to a report from ESPN.

No official announcement has been made by either school as of Monday morning.

Lea, a Nashville, Tennessee native, graduated from Vanderbilt in 2007 with a graduate-level degree in political science.

He played for the Commodores as a fullback from 2002 to 2004.

Lea began coaching the Irish in 2017 and became the defensive coordinator coach in 2018.

Notre Dame has not responded to a request for comment regarding Lea.
