Recently people are saying they have spotted mountain lions on the west side of St. Joseph County, Indiana.
ABC 57 spoke with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to get confirmation on Thursday, but officers say there are not any mountain lions in Michiana, only bobcats.
According to the Officer:
"Mountain lions at one point native to state of Indiana but extricated years ago and so they are protected in Indiana but yet to have any confirmed around here so most of time it's a mis-identification I'm not aware of any Facebook posts or anything else have not had any recent phone calls about mountain lions in St. Joseph County to the DNR so haven't had anything reported."
The DNR representative did say that there are a healthy population of bobcats in the county.
