ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Republican party leaders are challenging councilmember Dan Schaetzle's right to run for re-election this year.
Jackie Horvath and Griffin Nate claim that Schaetzle is ineligible to run as a republican because he was found not to be "in good standing" after Schaetzle made a leadership deal with the council democratic minority last year.
Schaetzle has already filed his bid for the May primary as a republican, but those who challenge his eligibility say he's prohibited from associating with the G.O.P. or using its resources until Jan. 31, 2027.
