Republicans celebrate Dyngus Day

It’s a post-Lenten celebration for the Polish and a platform for politicians.

Monday marks Dyngus Day, a tradition that dates many years back.

As part of her annual bus tour, Republican Congresswoman Jackie Walorski will make her first stop at the St. Joseph County Republican Party headquarters.

Rep Walorski and Governor Mike Pence will then head to Knights of Columbus in Elkhart, where Dyngus Day favorites like polish cabbage and kielbasa will be served until the food runs out.

All day long, restaurants, bars, and political venues in Michiana will host celebrations for Dyngus Day also known as Easter Monday.

In South Bend, places like the American Legion Post 357, Hoosier Tap and Grill, and the Clay Township Democratic Club will serve sausage sandwiches, kraut pierogis, and hard boiled eggs.
