Resurfacing project will bring lane closures to SR 23

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced that a stretch of SR 23 near Granger will receive resurfacing work, closing some lanes on or after April 12 for a project expected to take approximately six months.

Over three phases, alternating lane closures will occur on SR 23 between Main Street and just east of Bittersweet Road.

Daily lane closures will be set up with signage during the first phase of the project while crews do ADA curb ramp and sidewalk/curb inlet work.

Phase two will close the right lanes in each direction while crews work to resurface the outside lanes. Phase three will close the left lanes in each direction while crews work to resurface the inside lanes.

During this project, one lane in each direction of this stretch of SR 23 will remain open until all lanes can reopen sometime in the middle of October.
