Rival high school athletes build house for charity

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - They are competitors on the field but some Michiana teens banded together today to "Rock the House."

Athletes from Mishawaka and Penn High Schools put away their sports gear and picked up a hammer for Habitat for Humanity. The teams paired up to build walls for a Habitat project at the non-profit's warehouse.

Their generosity to help means everything to Serica Ellis, the woman who will eventually live there. Ellis says “it’s indescribable. I've been with Habitat for two years now and I just waited for my turn and now that it’s here, I just can't believe it."

Michiana students work each year to build a home under the “Rock the House” project.  It is expected to be done by July.
