Robbery activates SWAT, lockdown of Nuner School

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A robbery of a business took place Thursday morning just before 11 a.m. at the 1600 block of Portage Avenue.

The investigation led officers to the 2500 block of Pleasant Street where the South Bend Police Department's SWAT Team and Hostage-Crisis Negotiations Team were dispatched to assist.

Nuner School was placed on brief lockdown due to its proximity to the address. The lockdown has since been lifted.

At least one suspect has been detained.

No active threat remains, and no injuries have been reported.
