Son of 'Rocky Horror' creator discusses Tim Curry's impact with ABC57

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Tim Curry, most famous for his role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic midnight movie "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," has died at the age of 80.

ABC57 spoke with Linus O'Brien, filmmaker and son of "Rocky Horror" creator Richard O'Brien, about the lasting cultural impact of Curry's performance as the iconic villain from the original stage play to the film.

Linus was able to sit down and speak with Curry in depth about his career and involvement with the cult classic in the recently released documentary "Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror," which Linus also directed.

Curry's career spanned decades following his time in high heels, leading to other iconic roles in films like "Clue," "Annie," "Legend," "IT," and voice acting roles in film and television with "FernGully: The Last Rainforest," "The Wild Thornberrys," and more.

Curry had been dealing with health issues following a stroke a decade ago.

In 2025, Curry made several stops across the country as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of "Rocky Horror," a rare occasion for fans to meet the actor beloved by so many.

Curry's exact cause of death has not been revealed at this time.
