Rolling Prairie Lions Club Harvest Bicycle Century Tour

The 7th Annual Rolling Prairie Lions Club Harvest Bicycle Century Tour will take place Sunday, September 16, 2012.

Riders can start anytime between 7 a.m., CST, and noon. The departure and finishing point for all routes is the Rolling Prairie Elementary School. Riders can pre-register by September 7 ($15 per individual, $30 per family), or they can register on the day of the ride ($20 per individual, $30 per family).

The ride has routes of 25, 40, 62 (100K), and 100 miles. The routes weave between small orchards, woods, and lakes. While the ride is appropriate for families and younger riders, the hills on the longer routes present a good challenge. The S.A.G. points feature fresh, wholesome snacks and friendly support workers, and marked vehicles will patrol the route to assist riders.

For those who want to make a weekend of the event, there is tent and small trailer camping available at the secluded, peaceful glens of Rolling Timbers Park on State Road 2. Space is limited, so please call with any camping requests.

All proceeds from the ride will go to charitable projects supported by the Rolling Prairie Lions. In particular, RPLC supports vision, education, and community initiatives. Some of these include the Eye Bank Association; Leader Dogs for the Blind; scholarship funds; Rolling Prairie Easter egg hunt, Halloween party, and dictionaries for the elementary children; and other organizations and initiatives.
