Russian charter school opens in Minnesota

MINNETONKA, Minn. -- Even on the first day of school,  Minnesota Charter School students kept to tradition. The tradition of their Russian heritage.

More than 5,000 miles away in Minnetonka, Minnesota, a Russian Charter School opened on Tuesday.

And students grades K through 6 brought flowers, a tradition in Russian schools.

At this school, students will speak Russian 45 minutes a day.

"My mom thinks that we're talking too much English,  so we need to talk Russian more than English," said Angelina Rabushka.

The school has been in the works for six years. And so far, 85 kids are enrolled.
