UPDATE: Saint Joseph Health System medical offices closed Tuesday due to power outage from small fire

UPDATE: On Thursday, select Saint Joseph Health System medical offices and departments in the Medical Office Building at 611 E. Douglas. Rd. have resumed operations.

"To ensure continued service, a generator is temporarily supplying power to the building until the necessary repairs are fully completed," health officials said. "Most medical offices and departments are now open and will be seeing patients according to their scheduled appointments. Patients with inquiries are encouraged to contact the office they are scheduled to visit."

The Mishawaka Medical Center hospital was not affected by the outages and remains open. Patients are instructed to attend their appointments as scheduled and visitors can see family during normal visiting hours.

The Saint Joseph Foot and Ankle remains closed, but patients can be seen at the Simonton Lake Office, at 3421 Cassopolis St., Suite 200 in Elkhart.  To set up an appointment call (574) 335-8180.

ORIGINAL: MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Saint Joseph Health System announced its medical offices and departments in the Medical Office Building (MOB) at 611 E. Douglas Rd. are currently closed due to a power outage caused by a small fire.

Officials say overheated infrastructure caused a small fire in the MOB, which emergency responders quickly extinguished.

To safely complete repairs, electricity will remain off and patients with affected appointments will be contacted to reschedule their appointments.

Officials say they're working with the building owners to expedite the repairs and determine when offices will be able to reopen.

The Mishawaka Medical Center hospital was not affected and remains open. Patients should attend their appointments as scheduled, and visitors can see family during normal visiting hours.
