Saint Joseph Hospital System offering incentive pay for nurses

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Saint Joseph Hospital System announced that its hospitals are offering a new compensation plan for qualifying employees in the midst of a nursing shortage.

This new compensation will go into effect for nurses and surgical technologists who work in areas with critical shortages. The hourly incentives will range from $10 to $32, depending on years of experience and shift times.

The incentives are not tied to a long-term contract. Instead, these incentives add to the base pay for nurses and surgical technicians.

This comes as SJHS announced their minimum wage for any role in the hospital is $15 an hour, which was changed on Aug. 29.

The push this new compensation will help retain staff and recruit additional employees.
