Same-sex couples in Michigan could see new benefits

The days of a Michigan law banning state benefits for same-sex couples may be numbered. A Michigan judge granted an injunction to block that ban on Friday. 

According to the AP, the judge ruled the plaintiffs made a plausible claim that the law violates equal protection under the constitution. 

Michigan law prevents health insurance from covering same-sex partners of those working for certain public employers.
