MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- This afternoon on Aug. 7, people gathered at the Phoenix bar and grill in Mishawaka for a watch party to cheer on home-grown Olympian, Sarah Hildebrandt, in her efforts to bring home the gold medal in women's wrestling.
An amazing moment for her in Paris, and for her fans back home, marking this important moment for local communities and athletes to come together in support.
"It's important to recognize these local kids because it lets the next generation of kids know that they can have Olympic hopes and dreams." fan Pat Mckelvey stated.
The women's wrestler, and Penn high school graduate, made it to the gold medal match, however Hildebrandt's opponent from India disqualified. Instead, she competed against Cuban wrestler, Yusneylis Guzman Lopez, with Sarah dominating and winning the match 3-0.
