SOUTH BEND, Ind – The South Bend Community School Corporation and a Nuner Academy mom are working to find out what happened when the mom alleges her son was attacked by another student.
“My son had a pocket knife with at least a six inch blade pulled out on him on the south bend community school corporation school bus,” the Nuner academy mom said.
The details come from a Nuner Academy mother who says she’s concerned for her children and other children’s safety.
“My children reported it because I have two children and there was another eyewitness, another child on the bus,” the Nuner Academy mom said.
ABC57 reached out to the South Bend Community School Corporation who confirmed the incident and continued to say that the knife was confiscated without incident.
The school corporation released a statement that read in part “While this is an unfortunate event the staff and school corporation handled the situation with the utmost importance and with immediate appropriate safety measures according to the student code of conduct.”
The Nuner Academy mom says she reached out to police and filed a report and she wants transparency from the school corporation.
ABC57 spoke to police who confirmed the police report and says the case has since been turned over to the juvenile justice center.
