ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – South Bend Fire Department want to remind everyone of the safety measures that should be taken for New Years Eve.
Fireworks within city limits are allowed on December 31 from 10 a.m. until 1 a.m. on January 1.
City ordinance does not allow for fireworks at any time in any public street or park – they must be used on your own property.
When you are finished with your fireworks, you should soak them in a bucket of water for a few hours before discarding them.
Lastly, the Fire Department wants to remind everyone that sparklers burn around 2000 degrees, so if your kids are using them, keep a close and watchful eye on them.
Stay and Happy New Year!
