SBPD assist in death investigation on Pulaski Street

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department reports they and the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office are continuing to investigate an incident resulting in the discovery of two deceased individuals on Sunday.
SBPD says they were contacted by the ECSO on Sunday around 1 p.m. to assist with a welfare check on an individual from Elkhart County whose last known location was believed to be near Pulaski Street and Indiana Avenue in South Bend.
Officers arrived at the location to find a man and a woman unresponsive in a vehicle.
Both appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds and were declared dead at the scene.
Police say the man's wound appeared to be self-inflicted.
Both identities are withheld pending next-of-kin notifications.
The pair's autopsies are scheduled for Tuesday in Kalamazoo.
