SOUTH BEND, Ind— The Metro Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting death of a man at the Knights Inn on Lincolnway West.

MHU Commander Tim Corbett said the incident that happened inside a hotel room appeared to be a homicide.

At approximately 2:36 p.m., South Bend Police received two 911 calls regarding the shooting.

According to Corbett, police are looking for two suspects who fled the scene, however, their names have not been released.

The name of the victim is being withheld until family is notified.

Janice Wolff has been staying at the Knights Inn for the last month. She says many of the occupants live there long-term.

"It isn't safe for nobody to live here. I'm scared. I’m going to try to find me somewhere else to go because I can't deal with this," says Wolff.

Corbett says the motel is known as a high crime area.

Once again this is a case where people can’t settle something without violence.

If it looks like it’s going to escalate into violence, leave. What could have been the cause of this that was so important that you’d have to kill someone over? The answer is nothing.Commander Tim Corbett, MetroHomicide
