Scam alert: People acting as NIPSCO workers

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The LaPorte County Sheriff's Department wants to alert the public there are people posing as NIPSCO workers and trying to get into residents' homes.

They tell residents they need to come inside and conduct inspecitons related to the recent power outages.



The sheriff's department says utility workers will never need to come inside of your home and you should report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
