School district moving bus stop where 3 students died

AKRON, Ind. -- The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation is moving the bus stop on SR 25, in front of Meiser Park, as a result of the crash that killed 3 students and injured one. The students died while walking across the street to the bus.

In addition to moving the bus stop, Superintendent Blaine Conley is establishing a transportation safety review committee to examine all bus stops for safety issues.

The committed will include the superintendent, Fulton County Sheriff Christopher Sailors and Kosciusko County Sheriff W.R. Goshert.

The remaining members of the committee will include school transportation officials, bus drivers and the president of the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation Board of School Trustees.

"This has been a very difficult day for our school family as we attempt to cope with the devastating loss of three elementary students and a critically injured middle school student. I am very appreciative of our teachers, administrators and staff that assisted, comforted, and supported our students and each other today in our schools. We also had counselors and clergy available for anyone who desired additional support and we will continue to provide counselors as needed," Superintendent Conley stated in a release.
