School district releases potential name, mascot, colors of Elkhart's new high school

Students throughout the Elkhart Community Schools district voted last week on the name, mascot and colors of the new Elkhart high school.

The naming committee received over 800 ideas in February and March and hosted events where residents could discuss and submit ideas.

All of the submissions were reviewed in April and narrowed down to five options for each category.

On May 25, were given the opportunity to vote for their favorite name, mascot and school colors.

Students in grades 5-12 were allowed to vote in all three categories. Students in kindergarten through 4th grade were given one vote in each category for each classroom.

The results of the voting will be presented to the Elkhart Community Schools Board of School Trustees on June 12.
