There are new details in the search for a sailboat that disappeared off the coast of San Francisco.

The latest news coming from the Coast Guard is the event could be all a hoax.

The distress call was made Sunday claiming that two adults and two young children were on a sailboat that was sinking.

An extensive search found nothing and was called off Tuesday.

The Coast Guard has recently fallen victim to several fake calls.
