Section of Red Arrow Highway remains closed until Monday

NEW BUFFALO TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Berrien County Road Department announced a slight delay for the construction on Red Arrow Highway between US-12 and Community Hall Road.

The section was meant to reopen on May 17, but now remains closed to thru traffic.

Officials now anticipate one lane to open in each direction by the end of Monday, May 20.

Local traffic to businesses within the work zone is permitted. Business traffic can enter from the north side of the work zone.

The improvements to Red Arrow Highway include drainage, roadway resurfacing, four-lane to three-lane reconfiguration, and implementation of a non-motorized trail.

Local traffic should come from Union Pier Road/Community Hall Road to their end destination.

Traffic entering the New Buffalo Township Hall/Park or Galien River County Park can do so from south of the work zone.

Motorists heading to the County Park or Township Hall are asked to come from US-12

Traffic is requested to exit the same way they entered the work zone.

For the safety of the public and the workers, a hard closure is in effect where Jersey barrier-related work is taking place.
