Semi crashes and catches fire on IN Toll Road

An early morning semi accident made for a messy start to the day on the Indiana Toll Road.

At around 2:30 a.m. a FedEx truck hauling all kinds of freight crashed near mile marker 61 in La Porte County.

The driver said he looked down to get something out of his lunch box and when he looked up saw the guard rail right in front of him.

His semi went through the guard rail, flipped, then caught on fire. He noticed diesel fuel was leaking and realized the semi had caught fire. He then kicked out the windshield and escaped with only a scrape to the leg.

It took road crews several hours to get the accident cleared.
