Semi rolls over, spills thousands of apples onto median of Michigan highway

An ‘apple turnover’ has made headlines in Michigan and Indiana.

No, we’re not talking about the delicious, flaky pastry; more like 80,000 apples that spilled over a Michigan highway.

On Tuesday morning, The Oceana County Press reported a semi traveling from Sparta to Ludington turned over in the median of U.S. 31, spilling all 96 boxes of apples.

The driver of the semi suffered minor bruising during the accident.

The Press says the 149,000-pound shipment was being transported to Indian Summer Raw Products to be made into applesauce.
