Police: Semi-truck driver falls asleep at the wheel, crashes on M-60

NEWBERG TWP., Mich.—According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, a 50-year-old woman from Ypsilanti, Michigan crashed the semi-truck she was driving early Sunday morning.

The driver, Katherine Aris, was traveling to Detroit when she fell asleep at the wheel while driving east bound on M-60.

Authorities say the crash spilled approximately 100 gallons of fuel and oil on the south side of the road.

Aris was transported to Kalamazoo for injuries sustained during the crash.

The investigation is ongoing, though authorities say alcohol or drugs do not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
