Services to be held at Mendel Center to honor shooting victims

Celebration of life services will be held Friday and Monday to honor the victims in the deadly courthouse shootings that took the lives of Joe Zangaro and Ron Kienzle.

Grace Kelmer is the Mainstage Front of House Manager.

“It means a lot for us to offer our space and our services for the family and for everyone who’s involved,” said Kelmer.

A celebration of life service for Zangaro will be held Friday and is open for the public to pay their respects.

“We are expecting at least 2,000 people for the celebration of life ceremony, and at least that many for the luncheon afterwards,” said Kelmer.

Attendees include almost 650 county employees and 200 to 300 uniformed officers.

The celebration of life ceremony will held at the Mainstage which can hold up to 3,000 people.

“Immediately following the celebration of life, we will have a 21-gun salute, a flag folding, that will be directly outside the building. And immediately following, will be a luncheon. Anyone who attends the ceremony will be able to attend the luncheon as well,” said Kelmer.

The luncheon held in the Grand Uptown Hall.

“We also have multiple overflow rooms in case we run out of room in the theatre,” said Kelmer.

Wednesday courthouse co-workers embraced each other for the first time since Monday’s shootings.

On Friday, the community will come together to say farewell to heroes that will never be forgotten.

Services for Ron Kienzle will also be held at the Mendel Center, Monday at 1 p.m.

Visitation services will be at the funeral home Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
