Sex offender accused of failing to update registration

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- A registered sex offender with a lifetime registration requirement was taken into custody after deputies discovered he had failed to update his employment records, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.

Casey Whitehurst is required to register for a conviction on sexual battery charges.

As part of his registration requirement he must report any changes to his address, phone number and employment within 72 hours of the change.

During a random employment verification check, deputies learned Whitehurst’s employment was terminated more than a month prior. He failed to register his change of employment, deputies said.

A warrant for his arrest was issued for failure to register as a sex offender.
