ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- County commissioners voted unanimously to fire South Bend Common Council President Sharon McBride from her role as the director of the Ducomb Center.
This morning's vote ratifies an earlier decision to remove McBride amid an investigation into multiple allegations including training issues, ghost employment, and possible overtime abuse at the county-owned facility for inmates returning home.
McBride allegedly gave her own mother $45,000 in overtime pay.
The county's investigation is ongoing, but Sharon McBride will remain in her elected position on the South Bend Common Council. Today's decision only removes her as director of the Ducomb Center.
