Sheriff: Unlicensed driver arrested on OWI charge after hit and run crash

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind.—According to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office, an unlicensed driver who was allegedly involved in a hit and run crash in Michigan was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated in LaGrange County following a short police pursuit on March 21.

On Thursday, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department informed the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office to be on the lookout for a vehicle that had been involved in a hit and run crash in St. Joseph, Michigan.

Around 11:48 p.m. Thursday night, officers with the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle on County Road 550 W. in LaGrange County.

Following a short pursuit of the vehicle by police, officers arrested Lavon Lynn Lambright, 28, of Shipshewana.

Lambright was booked into the LaGrange County Jail and charged with operating while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license.
